How To Make Iced Matcha
Matcha tea is one of my favorite drinks, not just for the taste but for the health benefits as well. A type of powdered green tea, matcha is especially high in antioxidants, anti-inflammatory properties, and L-theanine. Matcha is associated with improved cholesterol ratios, increased metabolism, and even lowered cancer risk.
One important polyphenol found in matcha is EGCG (epigallocatechin gallate), a potent antioxidant that is responsible for a good deal of matcha’s health-protective benefits. The L-theanine content in matcha (which greatly surpasses what is found in regular green tea) counteracts the negative side effects of caffeine, giving you an alert yet relaxed feeling. No jitters or crashes!
